SCHOOL children joined residents to sing carols and celebrate the magic of Christmas during a popular event.

The Peninsula Carol Service at St Nicholas Church, Harwich, included seven schools from the Harwich and Dovercourt area as well as members of the public and community leaders.

The event aimed to show the more reflective side of Christmas, so as well as the usual festive carols being sung there were moments of quietness to allow the children time to think about the wonder of Christmas.

The Rev Peter Mann, said: “The service involved both adults and children in music, readings and a procession of light and figures for the Christmas crib to share the mystery and wonder of the Christmas story."
