A WATER company has promised to investigate after repair works allegedly damaged a family’s washing machine.

Daniel and Kelly Wright, and their three children, have been without a washing machine since early in November.

A sub-contractor working for Anglian Water was carrying out some work on a manhole cover outside the Wright’s house, and the following day Mrs Wright, 30, noticed there was sand in the family’s drinking water.

Mr Wright said: “They had been doing some work outside the house on one of the manhole covers.

“My wife rang me at work to say there was sand coming through the tap in the kitchen.

“The tap lost water pressure and then stopped working altogether.”

After a call to Anglian Water, a plumber was sent out to their house to replace the tap, but soon things got worse.

“It could be a total coincidence but the following day the washing machine broke down as well.

frustrated “Every time you switch it on it fills up with water and won’t stop.”

But despite repeated calls to the customer service centre and the sub-contractor, Mr Wright was left frustrated.

He said: “We have been using my in-laws machine for the last month which involves a six-mile round trip three times a week."
