An Essex University consortium has been awarded a £1 million grant.

The grant has been made to the Institute for Social and Economic Research, the UK Data Archive and the Department of Sociology.

The three departments will establish the Survey Resources Network (SRN), which will co-ordinate research, training and information about survey design and practice.

The network will provide online information resources for resear-chers, as well as advising the Economic and Social Research Council on the use of surveys in the UK.

Peter Lynn, principal investigator and co-director of the network, said the project would make sure researchers are equipped to make the best use of the rich survey data available in the UK and help improve the quality of future surveys.
