AN intrepid fundraising duo have kicked off preparations for their 11th expedition.

Norman Starrs and Keith Hockley will take part in a 300-mile, six-day ride in South Africa next year.

They need to raise £3,200 each for the National Deaf Children’s Society.

Mr Starrs, 57, who works at Clacton Leisure Centre, and Mr Hockley, 59, who runs Hockleys Windows and Glass in Valley Road, have taken part in challenges in Egypt, India, Mexico and Vietnam since 1996.

Their appetite for fundraising has not diminished.

Mr Starrs said: “It is hard work, not just the training and the ride itself but the fundraising too.

“But it is a great way to see the world and the rides usually end somewhere fantastic – this time it will be near Cape Town.
