WORKS are progressing on the offshore construction of a wind farm off Clacton.

Danish energy giant Dong Energy is building the 48 turbines wind farm on Gunfleet Sands, 7km off the resort.

Peter Sills, communications manager for the Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm, said: “The crane barge is in position and that moves around the site.

“It is currently installing some of the turbines in the fifth row of the wind farm, so there will be more in front of those.
