A trial to allow taxis to use one of Clacton’s main shopping streets during the day will last for four months, it has been revealed.
The Gazette revealed earlier this month that Essex County Council highways chief Norman Hume had agreed to temporarily lift a restriction in central Pier Avenue.
Roy Smith, Tendring Council chairman and a county councillor, has received a letter from Beverley Gould, County Hall highways manager, which clarifies the proposed trial.
It will start in early 2009, once the traffic regulation orders have been processed and the signs changed, and will last for four months.
