POLICE are seeking a group of youths who threw fireworks at an oil refinery.
Harwich officers were alerted when the culprits were spotted near the Petrochem Carless oil refinery, in Parkeston.
Sgt Paul Chandler, of Harwich police, said: “We are more than aware there are flammable substances on that site and it is a dangerous place for kids to be near, so we are appealing for anyone with information to call us.”
“Bearing in mind it is coming towards November 5, if anyone witnesses anyone throwing fireworks they should call 999 immediately,” he added.
Police were also called to an incident in Hilltop Crescent, Weeley, about 8.30pm on Monday.
Colin Stiff, crime reduction officer, said it is thought between six and eight youths were setting off fireworks in the road.
Anyone with information about the incident near the oil refinery, which happened around 8.30pm on Saturday, is urged to call Harwich police on 0300 333 444.
If anyone spots anybody throwing fireworks they are advised to dial 999.
