A NEW partnership is being launched to help tackle business crime in the county.

Essex Police is inviting business representatives to take part in a new forum to exchange points of view and discuss issues, as well as working together to combat the problem.

The force recently launched a new policy document explaining how it plans to tackle crime against business, and why it wants to set up the Essex Crime Against Business Forum, developed in partnership with Essex Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Inspector Christopher Willis, of Essex Police, said: “Crime against business is an area which causes concern for Essex Police.

“We are very keen to work with the business community to reduce the risk of a business becoming a victim of crime and for those that are victims to work with them to catch and prosecute those responsible.

Essex Police already attend every crime reported to us, so we have some idea of the level of crime taking place against businesses in the county, but we want to work more closely with the business community to combat those crimes."
