POLICE have told residents living close to a trouble spot in Frinton that a dispersal order is not the solution.

Beleaguered residents previously complained that unruly youths, sometimes gathering in groups of more than 50, were keeping them awake late at night.

They had called for a dispersal order to give officers powers to move yobs on, but Police Community Support Officer Wayne Burke told a meeting of Frinton Residents’ Association that an order would not be the best way forward.

A recent zero-tolerance approach to traffic offences, public disorder and littering has been credited with cutting problems in the road, and last week it was announced that an experimental traffic restriction may be put in place in the road to tackle car vandals.
