A NO-NONSENSE headteacher is today “making no apologies” after latest figures revealed about one in eight pupils were excluded from her school in a year.
High-performing Tendring Technology College, which has about 1,700 pupils, sent home 220 during 2006/7.
The total number of incidents where pupils were ordered off the premises was 478, as some of the youngsters were booted out on more than one occasion.
Exclusion is a last resort for schools as it interrupts children’s teaching.
Tendring Tech’s principal Caroline Haynes said it was important to let pupils know when their behaviour had crossed the line.
