TWO roads in Colchester are set to be introduced with fresh restrictions including a temporary speed limit.

Both will be faced with a temporary closure as well as a temporary 30mph speed limit.

The first road affected is Shrub End Road, Colchester, from its junction with Gosbecks Road to its junction with Boadicea Way.

As well as this, the restrictions are coming to Walnut Tree Way, from its junction with Ranyer Road to its junction with Shrub End Road.

Both roads, along with six others, will also be affected by a temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction.

Other roads affected are Winston Avenue, Plume Avenue, King Harold Road, Redmill and Greystone Close, all from their junctions with Shrub End Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 18th April 2024, exact dates will be specified on one.network

Elsewhere in and around Colchester, three lengthy road closures are coming.

Firstly, on May 7, De Vere Lane in Wivenhoe will shut from its junction with The Avenue to its junction with Woodland Way.

The closure is scheduled for 29 days while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

On the same day, Easthorpe Road in Copford will be closing from its junction with Rectory Road to its junction with the A12.

The closure is scheduled for 17 days while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The final lengthy closure is for Haye Lane in Fingringhoe, from a point approximately 250m south east of its junction with Colchester Road for a distance of approximately 90m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on May 20 for 33 days while water main replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

Elsewhere in north Essex, a road is preparing to shut for more than 100 days.

Holland Road in Little Clacton will close from its junction with Tan Lane for a distance of approximately 490m in a westerly direction and then from its junction with Tan Lane to its junction with Thorpe Road a distance of approximately 115m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on May 20 for 124 days, with works to be completed in phases.

They are required for the safety of the public and workforce while foul water main works are undertaken by DA Cant Ltd.

In mid Essex, there are various road closures drivers need to be aware of.

South Street in Braintree is set to close from its junction with Notley Road to its junction with Fairfield Road.

As well as this, New Street in Braintree from its junction with South Street for a distance of approximately 40m in a northerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on May 7 for two nights from 7pm to 6am.

They are required for the safety of the public and workforce while underground cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

In Witham, a lengthy closure is coming to Powers Hall End.

It will shut from both junctions with Powers Hall End Roundabout for a distance of approximately 450m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on May 7 for 81 days while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

In the Maldon district, a road is set to close for more than 100 days.

Hackmans Lane in Purleigh will close from the junction with Goat House Lane to the junction with Stow Road.

The closure is scheduled to commence on May 6 for 138 days while mains renewal works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.
