COLCHESTER United FC has featured on a 100-metre-long scarf revealed to mark the launch of a nationwide football camp programme.
The Kellogg’s Football Camps scheme, which will take place throughout the summer, was officially launched on Tuesday.
Working with the English Football League, Manchester City, Celtic and Rangers, the camps are designed for children aged five to 15.
In celebration of the project, Kellogg's has unveiled a scarf featuring more than 70 football clubs across England, Wales, and Scotland.
The piece was made after 500 combined hours of dedicated designing, knitting and sewing undertaken by specialist teams.
A Colchester United spokesman said: "We're delighted to partner with Kelloggs to to launch Kelloggs Football Camps."
The football camp programme spans from Grimsby to Glasgow and Plymouth to Peterborough.
This initiative comes as 59 per cent of UK parents (six in 10) struggle to entertain their children throughout the summer, while 86 per cent (eight in 10) of parents want their child to experience less screen time during the break.
The same percentage believe that team sports are important for learning valuable life skills.
Former football professionals and pupils from schools congregated at Birmingham City’s stadium, St. Andrews @ Knighthead Park, to mark the programme's launch.
Ex-Hull City and England defender, Michael Dawson said: "For me, football camps during school breaks were where I had the most fun, kicking the football around with your mates.
"The EFL has such an advantage being part of so many different communities up and down the country, and to have Kellogg’s on board this summer to give so many kids the same opportunity I had when I was younger is really exciting.”
Chris Silcock, managing director of Kellanova which owns Kellogg’s, said: “Most families will be within 15 miles of a Kellogg’s Football Camp, giving children up and down Britain an opportunity to get active this summer."
Kellogg’s Football Camps sessions will take place in June in Scotland and in July across the rest of the UK.
