FOLLOWING a serious collision which has left a section of the A120 closed off, Essex Police is now appealing for eyewitnesses to come forward.

Around 6pm this evening, all emergency services arrived on the scene of an incident at the A120 westbound at Great Notley between Braintree and Stansted, after reports of a crash which blocked the road.

The police is now issuing an appeal for anyone with more information regarding the incident to come forward as several vehicles have been involved in this collision.

This situation has led to many A120 motorists experiencing lengthy delays and traffic congestion.

A spokesman for Essex Police is encouraging anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.

They said: "We were called to the incident shortly before 6pm this evening, Thursday 16 November, which involved a number of vehicles.

"The westbound carriageway has been closed and we expect it will remain closed later into this evening as our investigation progresses.

"We would ask that all motorists currently stationary in queues do not try to find a way to leave the area, officers are working to release all traffic safely.

"A number of people have already come forward to give us their account of the incident, we would encourage anyone who is yet to come forward to please do so."
