A COLCHESTER soldier died and two others were injured in Afghanistan after their patrol vehicle overturned.
The soldiers were serving with Colchester-based 13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps.
The MoD said Friday night's incident was not combat-related.
A spokesman said: "The soldiers were patrolling in the central area Helmand when the vehicle they were traveling in rolled over.
"The medical incident response team was called in and evacuated the casualties to the ISAF medical facilities at Camp Bastion.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team one soldier died of his wounds.
"The remaining two casualties are receiving treatment for their injuries which are not life-threatening."
The vehicle the soldiers were in was part of a force protection patrol.
The MoD said next of kin had been informed and further details would be released on Sunday morning.
The tragedy happened just three days after two Colchester-based Paras were killed in Afghanistan.
Sergeant Major Michael Williams, of 2 Para, was killed in a firefight with Taliban insurgents on Tuesday.
Private Joe Whittaker, a Territorial Army soldier attached to 2 Para, died checking for mines in a separate incident.
