A JUDGE branded a road rage attack by two Clacton women as one of the worst he had heard in years.

Elaine Draper, 45, and Mandy Henderson, 42, drank four bottles of wine between them in Colchester before heading home to Clacton.

But Draper drove into the back of a car parked at traffic lights on Clingoe Hill, Colchester, a court heard.

The shocked occupants got out and called the police.

Suddenly, Draper lunged at Danielle Munro, grabbing her around the throat.

Henderson kicked out at another officer after she was handcuffed.

District judge David Cooper said the pair had behaved like "wild cats" on April 17.

Draper, of Langham Drive, admitted assault, failing to provide a breath specimen, careless driving and obstructing a PC.

Henderson, of Pier Avenue, admitted assaulting a PC and threatening behaviour.

David Howell, mitigating, said Draper had been on the wrong medication for bipolar disorder.

Henderson was said to be "very remorseful".

Both women were given 12-week suspended sentences and electronically tagged while they serve a three-month curfew.

Henderson must go on an alcohol treatment programme and pay £100 compensation.

Draper was ordered to pay £200 compensation and banned from driving for two years."
