A SCHEME to build five homes has been rejected.
Members of Tendring Council's development control committee refused plans for three detached and two semi-detached properties on land behind Station Road, Alresford.
While planning officers had recommended approval, councillors were concerned that the scheme was an over-development of the site, and were worried about the possibility of existing homes being overlooked.
There were also issues surrounding the access, as well as potential parking problems.
Alresford ward councillor Gary Scott (Lib Dem) withdrew from his position as committee chairman to speak against the proposals, which had been put forward by applicant Principal Homes.
