Just as ABBA greats Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus predicted 28 long years ago, the winner takes it all at the Ford County Ground tonight (5.30pm start).

The Essex Eagles and Hampshire Hawks both go into their final Twenty20 Cup South Division fixture knowing success will send them through to the quarter-finals - and just two victories from a place in the lucrative Twenty20 Champions League.

And all-rounder Grant Flower knows just how important success tonight would be to the county.

"It is a big game. Unfortunately we could only get a tie at the Rose Bowl so it's all to play for tonight," said the 37-year-old former Zimbabwe star.

"They have got a good team and have played some good cricket.

"(Australian) Ian Harvey didn't play on Wednesday due to a sore neck but he'll be back and I also know (Zimbabwean) Sean Ervine well. He is a strong player and batted well in midweek.

"But we can rise to the occasion and hopefully we will."

Flower himself has seen his opportunities limited in this season's competition - particularly with the ball - but he has still played a pivotal role in two games, scoring 39 not out at Sussex and taking three for 21 in the home win over Kent.

"I'm not frustrated by my lack of bowling because I'm 37 and the club is obviously trying to push some younger players for the future," said the Harare-born batsman and left-arm spinner.

"But when the time arrives, like it did against Kent, hopefully I can come to the fore and do my deeds."

Essex's home Twenty20 Cup form has been impressive so far.

Mark Pettini's side recovered from the shock of losing their opening clash against Middlesex by seven wickets to win their last three matches at Chelmsford.

Reigning champions Kent, Surrey and Sussex - thanks to master-blaster Graham Napier's 152 not out - have all been vanquished on the banks of the River Can.

And a fourth consecutive success in the county town this evening would ensure the resurgent Eagles take flight into the last eight.
