A GOVERNMENT suggestion for a super-prison housing 2,000 inmates has left a local MP demanding answers.
Government minister Jack Straw told the House of Commons about a "suggestion that a prison should be built" in south Suffolk, which could be near villages like Brantham or East Bergholt.
South Suffolk MP Tim Yeo, who lives in East Bergholt, denied knowing anything about plans for a prison.
Mr Straw criticised Mr Yeo, suggesting the MP opposed the scheme: "What happens the moment that we try to build prisons?
"What happens is that we do not get co-operation from the local Conservative members."
