COUNCIL workers have been criticised for scoffing breakfasts paid for by taxpayers.
Healthy breakfasts like cereal and fruit have been laid on at Clacton Leisure Centre to encourage council and health workers to leave their cars at the site and walk the rest of the way to their offices.
The scheme, part of the Walk to Work Week, is being run by Tendring Council and North East Essex Primary Care Trust (PCT) - who are paying for the food - to encourage staff to lead healthy lives.
Angry tax payer Cliff Edwards, of Saxted Drive, Clacton, said: "A lot of people are unhappy about them having a free breakfast on our taxes."
