A prolific shoplifter promised "I won't do it again" after a court heard she was trying to turn her life around.
Drug-user Jemma Newman, 25, admitted stealing booze and perfume from shops in Clacton and Colchester to feed her addiction.
Newman, of Wellesley Road, Clacton, was sentenced to 56 days in prison but released immediately because of time spent in custody on remand.
