TRAIN operator National Express East Anglia has announced it has enjoyed the most punctual month of its franchise to date.

During its most recent four-week performance period, up to April 26, just over 92 per cent of services arrived at their destination on time - meaning they got there within five minutes of the published arrival time.

This excludes inter-city services, for which the national measure is within ten minutes.

The company, which operates services out of Colchester, says its annual average punctuality for train services operated on its routes is now up to 90.43 per cent - the highest level of the franchise so far and one of the best figures for a large train operator running trains over many routes.

Official figures show 90.5 per cent of mainline services between Norwich and London, which take in stops including Harwich, Clacton, Colchester, Braintree and Chelmsford, were on time during that four-week period, and the Stansted Express services were 91.1 per cent punctual.
