More than 20 people have been arrested after drugs raids in the Colchester area.
Up to 120 police officers, including scenes-of-crime officers, sniffer dogs and officers in body armour and helmets, stormed 18 properties.
The raids took place at 6am yesterday, following months of intelligence gathering.
Properties included houses in Lucas Road and flats on the Greenstead estate.
A "large" quantity of what is believed to be class A drugs was seized, and 23 men and women were arrested. Many were due before magistrates today.
Divisional commander Chief Superintendent Dave Hudson said: "Hopefully this will send a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in Essex."
A police spokesman said that because of the quantity of drugs seized, a number of drug users would be unable to get their supply.
He said: "We are liaising with local agencies to ensure the necessary support will be put in place."
