Plans are in the pipeline to transform an historic former community hall into a retirement village.
Hallmark Developments has recently bought Priory Hall, in Colchester Road, Halstead, to develop it.
Next month, the Essex-based developers will take the next step of liaising with planning officers before they draw up the details.
At the moment, all that exists is an outline plan.
Stephen Everington, Hallmark chief executive, said: "We intend to take forward our plans for the site as our second retirement village development, in close consultation with Braintree District Council, the Town Council and local people."
