A FLOOD alert has been issued in parts of south Essex due to unusually high tides. 

The Environment Agency (EA) says there could be some flooding on coastal roads and footpaths between 1.30pm and 3.30pm today. 

The main areas of concerns are Battlesbridge and Hullbridge, with riversides being hit by the high tide. 

Creeksea Ferry Road onto Wallasea Island my also be flooded according to experts.

An EA spokesman said: "Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

"Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

"We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate."

Some parts of Shoebury and Greaat Wakering are also covered by the alert.

The EA says any flooding is likely to be minor.
