A FRINTON film-maker chained himself to a London cinema in protest after it decided not to screen his movie.

Tony Longhurst, of Elton Road, was arrested following his demonstration outside the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton.

He claims the cinema went back on an agreement to show his film Ten Percent, about the aftermath of the 1937 boxing world title fight between James Braddock and Joe Louis.

"It was set up months ago and they e-mailed me to say it would be going on on March 12, 13 and 14.

"But before it was due to go ahead, they said I had got the dates wrong on my poster, so obviously I got a little bit angry.

"I have put my life into this film, so was understandably upset, but they said I should not have spoken to their staff like that, and didn't want to deal with me any longer."

Mr Longhurst's battle to get the film on the silver screen made him bankrupt, resulted in the break-up of a relationship, and he was even forced to take part in a boxing match to raise funds to finish the project.

Mr Longhurst chained himself to the cinema to protest against its decision, following which he was arrested and released without charge.
