Villagers have been called to join a crusade against litter.
Clive Wallis, 63, has been "incensed" by rubbish on the streets of Marks Tey, and has formed a one-man cleaning team using equipment provided by Colchester Council.
"I do a lot of walking around the village, and everywhere I go I see so much litter," the Bury Road resident said.
"I wanted to do my bit and got in contact with the parish council, who got in touch with the borough.
"I've now got a litterstick, gloves and bags and I'm coming to clean the roads around where I live every time I'm out walking."
Nigel Fitch, chairman of Marks Tey Parish Council, praised Mr Wallis' efforts and called for more "commited and enthusiastic" volunteers to join him.
