The body of a missing woman was discovered in a pond in Lexden.
The 55-year-old's husband reported her missing at about 11.35pm on Thursday and police officers spent the night searching for the woman.
At about 6.30am on Friday some of her belongings were discovered beside a pond and something could be seen in the water.
Members of the Essex Police Marine Unit searched the area and recovered the woman's body at 9.15am.
Colchester police are satisfied that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. An inquest will be held.
