Police have issued a description of the tip-box thief who left staff in tears.
Yesterday, the Gazette reported that staff at Sam's Diner and Takeout, in Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester, were distraught after a thief stole their collection tin.
Generous customers had put pound coins and notes into the box, which was to be divided between staff as a Christmas tip.
Police today described the man as white, aged 20 to 25, about 5ft 8ins in height and of slim build.
He had short brown hair and a scar on the right-hand side of his face. He was wearing a grey baseball cap and a white shell-suit top.
