This year's poppy appeal in Colchester raised a record total of nearly £50,000 to help support war veterans.
Street collections, door-to-door collecting and a concert featuring the Parachute Regiment Band at Colchester Institute in October helped the Colchester branch of the Royal British Legion raise £49,328.90.
Organiser Graham Elsy said: "I want to say thank-you to the residents of Colchester for their support of the Poppy Appeal this year.
"Considering we raised just over £45,000 last year we have actually smashed the barrier."
