HISTORIAN John Collett is looking for the children in this photo, who were snapped as they were being evacuated from Clacton during the war.

Mr Collett has already compiled the accounts of Clacton children into a book, called There'll Always Be An England - featured recently in the Gazette.

Now, he is hoping to find the children from this photograph, which is on the front cover of his book.

The picture originally came from the front page of the East Essex Gazette from June 8, 1940, which documented the departure of thousands of children to the Kidderminster area of Worcestershire.

The only information that John has regarding the photo is that the man pictured is Thomas Barnshaw.
