Traders are backing calls for a threatened market to be saved.
It is feared Walton's High Street market could close if Town and Country Markets, which runs the site, pulls out.
Market traders hope that Frinton and Walton Town Council could take over the lease in a bid to save the market.
Penny Eley, of Point Clear, who runs a plant stall, said: "The market seems very important, especially to the elderly people in the town, and if the market and the post office were to go, Walton as a town would die.
"It's important that it stays open for tourism and for the restaurants and other shops in the town."
