High street traders in Manningtree are facing up to the possibility of a new Tesco store in the town.
Following the highly-charged anti-Tesco meeting held by the Stour Community First Group in Lawford on Tuesday night - traders in Manningtree have spoken out on the impact they see a proposed supermarket having on their livelihoods.
Many believe a new store will revive a High Street that died many years ago while others see it as the death knell.
Tim Goodwin, a Manningtree businessman who rents a photography shop on the High Street, said: "The truth is the High Street died a long time ago and it had nothing to do with Tesco."
