Two sections of sea wall at Holland-on-Sea could collapse at any time, a report has revealed.
Sea defences are failing, sand levels are too low and short-term works to prop up walls are starting to give way on the Clacton coast.
A Tendring Council report says collapses are very likely - possibly this winter.
It could eventually lead to the loss of roads and houses.
Two stretches of sea wall - 150 metre between Hazelmere Road and Kings Avenue and 60m between Queensway and York Road - are totally unsupported and will cost £1.3 million to reinforce.
Neither Tendring Council nor the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) have enough cash for the work.
