The total funding for Halstead CCTV should be known next week.
On Monday, there will be a Braintree Council cabinet meeting to decide whether to replace monitoring and control equipment at Causeway House and nine cameras in Braintree, costing about £70,000.
If cabinet members decide to go ahead with this, only £37,500 will be left from the £107,500 budget for Halstead's system.
Councillor Jackie Pell said: "There's not going to be much left for us and Halstead people have been paying for it since day one - since it has been installed in Braintree and Witham.
"It's not brilliant news, but Wendy Schmitt did say we will have CCTV. Halstead won't forget that."
