A charity parachute jump due to be undertaken by the Mayoress of Harwich was cancelled.
Helen Gallagher was scheduled to jump 3,000ft from a plane for her five chosen charities on Saturday.
But after a nine-hour wait, poor weather conditions meant the event, that has raised several hundreds of pounds so far, was called off.
Disappointed Mrs Gallagher said: "I got there seriously early and after a two-hour car journey.
"All day the clouds sat overcast at 3,000ft and there was no visibility.
"You have to have clear visibility, but all day long it was showing no signs of disappearing.
"For safety reasons it is all weather permitting, so it was called off."
