A protest meeting has been called after six post offices were earmarked for closure in Tendring.
Royal Mail wants to shut 67 branches in east Essex and south Suffolk by the new year.
The six in Tendring are in Freeland Road, Clacton; Garland Road, Parkeston; Waldegrave Way, Lawford; Station Road, Wrabness; Naze Park, Walton; and Thorpe Road, Kirby.
Walton councillor Mick Page said a protest meeting would be held at St George's Hall, Hall Lane, on October 26 at 7.30pm.
Carlo Guglielmi, sub-postmaster of the Waldegrave Way branch, Lawford, said his customers felt the same way as he did, totally flabbergasted.
He said: "I will be demanding to know on what criteria this decision was made. I do not blame the Post Office, its hands have been tied by the Government who declared that the closures had to happen."
