Ghost hunters, who invited Gazette's reporters Andrea Collitt and Debbie Siggery to spend a night helping with their investigations, have revealed their latest findings.

Investigators from the London Paranormal Society (LPS) descended upon Harwich's Redoubt fort for an eight-hour vigil last Saturday.

Experiences on the night included a rowing boat that strangely rocked of its own accord in one of the fort's rooms, and tapping sounds in response to questions from the LPS's psychics.

Now Ian Shillito, from the LPS, has told of more ghostly goings-on, after the reporters got spooked and called it an early night.

"We got some strange talking at the battlements, but we can't rule out whether it was people's voices in the background as it was picked up on the video cameras," he said.

"We did more table-tipping and they (the alleged spirits) were tapping out theme tunes and songs. They were knocking out tunes to Waltzing Matilda, Daisy Daisy and the Pink Panther, and were shown to have an intelligence."

Tapes are still being checked and it could take up to another two weeks before all the results are finalised.

Equipment used to detect any paranormal activity on the night included laser thermometers and EMF meters (used to pick up electric energy).

Mr Shillito added: "We are planning to come back next year, it is such an amazing location."
