Hundreds of schoolchildren have been given heart checks as part of a pioneering initiative.
More than 380 pupils and ten teachers at Tendring Technology College, in Frinton, were given the heart scans by technicians from national charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry).
Technology teacher Steve Sparkes, who was a friend of former student Andrew Gard who died as a result of sudden death syndrome in 1997, had his heart scanned as part of the initiative.
Andrew's mother, a former PE teacher at the school, is now the divisional representative for Cry.
She wants all 14-year-olds to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) test, to look for any cardiac abnormalities.
The college has become only the second school in the country to offer all pupils aged 14 and over a free heart check.
