A FORMER finalist in the Great British Bake Off will be the first from the series to share their skills at a new cookery school in Brighton.

Called the Community Kitchen, 2016 finalist, Andrew Smyth, will lead the classes this autumn.

With more than six million people tuning into the first episode of this year’s Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, and the popularity of home-baking hitting new heights, the cookery school is expected to be a big hit.

London-based company Bake With A Legend, which organises baking classes led by former stars from The Great British Bake Off, is holding the classes in Brighton for the first time after their popularity in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

The classes in Brighton will be held on November 24 and will be hosted by Andrew and held at The Community Kitchen in Queen’s Road.

Speaking about the launch of the classes on the South coast, Andrew said:

“I’m thrilled to be taking a class in Brighton and can’t wait to bake up a storm. Not only is this a brand new class, but it’s going to be my first time visiting the city, which is something I am really looking forward to. The new kitchen looks absolutely fantastic, so I’m really looking forward to getting started and passing on my skills.”

The opening event will see Andrew lead a “Christmas Masterclass”, where those attending will learn the skills necessary to make two of Andrew’s favourite festive treats – Paris-Brest – a spiced, choux pastry ring, filled with cream and fruit – and chocolate orange tarts.

The classes are open to everyone and no prior experience is needed. All events include welcome teas and coffees, soft drinks, snacks, Prosecco, recipe cards and boxes to take the delicious treats created away in. Places at the class cost £99 per person or £190 per pair and are now available to purchase online at bakewithalegend.com/brighton.

In addition to the first event in the city, Bake With a Legend will be holding more public classes in Brighton For further details of the dates for subsequent classes in the city, visit www.bakewithalegend.com/brighton.
