FIREFIGHTERS were called to a crash involving three cars and a lorry on the A12 in Witham last night.
Two crews from Chelmsford and one from Witham were called to the southbound carriage of the A12 between junctions 21 and 20B shortly before 11.21pm.
Two people were trapped in their vehicles and firefighters worked to release them.
Five casualties were left in the care of the Ambulance Service at 12.15am.
Sergeant Colin Shead of Essex Police tweeted that a Vauxhall driver "thankfully" only received minor injuries.

East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
