FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man after a blaze broke out in a ground floor flat.
When crews arrived at Ranger Walk, Colchester, they found a fire was burning in the property's kitchen.
A man in his 40s was still inside.
They gained entry into the property and helped him out of the flat.
The fire was put out within half an hour.
Crews managed to restrict the damage to the kitchen.
The fire was caused after cooking was left unattended when the man fell asleep.
