POLICE say there is no wider risk to the public following a sexual assault in Rowhedge. 

They were contacted shortly after 4am on Thursday, April 5, with reports a man had forced entry to a flat in the area of Marsh Crescent and High Street in Rowhedge.

A woman reported she had been sexually assaulted.

She is now being supported by specialist officers.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Our investigation is progressing and we are following a number of lines enquiry.

"We remain open minded as to the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"Based on the information we currently have, we believe there is no wider risk to the public and currently believe this to be an isolated incident."

Officers are continuing with the investigation and are keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident, or has any CCTV footage.
