COLCHESTER Market has existed in a number of guises.

It began life in the Roman era and was officially 'chartered' by the Normans - the legal basis which allows all markets to be held. 

During its lifetime, it has made its home in a number of places.

Most recently, in 2015, it returned to the High Street from the pedestrianised Culver Street West.

But is it in the right place now? 

Issues such as pollution from buses and cars are regularly cited, while traders have also voiced concerns over near-misses. 

But is the market more thriving in High Street more than it did Culver Street West?
