Students at Bishops Park College have decided on a very modern way to try and save their school from closure.
After setting up a petition, the pupils will now make a video to post on YouTube, highlighting why they want the Jaywick Lane school to remain open.
MP Douglas Carswell visited the school on Tuesday to talk about the project with the young people involved.
He told the Gazette: "A petition is two-dimensional.
"It's what people would have done 100 years ago when they only had access to pen and paper.
"Given the ethos of the school is very contemporary, a video could tell a very powerful story."
He added: "I will help in any way I can.
"I'm no Steven Spielberg but I can give them a few hints."
The students, led by 14-year-olds Jo-Leigh Cullip, Georgia Denth and Dan Evans, as well as Nikole Pidgeon, 12, intend to conduct interviews with fellow pupils and members of the community to get their views on the school.
