A DRIVER who had been attending a first birthday party is hoping to find the culprit who smashed into his car.

The driver was at his godson’s birthday on Sunday, in High Road, Layer-de-laHaye.

He arrived at about 4.15pm and got a knock at the door about half an hour later.

He said: “I was parked mostly on their driveway and partly on the road.

“There were no yellow lines.

Parking is not restricted.

“The neighbour knocked and said there was a red wing mirror in his driveway. My mirror casing has been smashed, as has the glass and there is a long scuff mark on the rear driver’s side.

“This is supposedly where the vehicle scraped before hitting my mirror.”

He said no note had been left and he has not been contacted by anyone since.

He said: “A few hours later, the birthday boy’s mother contacted me to say there was a red Corsa parked up outside the house.

“When she reversed out of the drive, it sped off. She wasn’t able to confirm or deny whether it had a wing mirror missing.

“However it looked suspicious and the wing mirror found in the next door neighbours was red.

“The driver might have some more information.”

He contacted police, giving the registration number in the hope the driver of the car may have information.

Anyone else with information should call 101.
