A MOTHER who was beaten, kicked and abused by her former husband has spoken of her terror after discovering he will be released from prison early.

Nicola Moore, 31, of Kings Road, Southminster, required six operations and 13 days in hospital after her then husband Shaun Hull shoved her to the floor and kicked her until she was unconscious.

Miss Moore suffered heavy internal bleeding near her liver, plus dozens of bruises to her face and body.

Upon leaving hospital she was prescribed dozens of different medications and was left to cope the mental trauma of the attack.

Hull was sentenced in May to two years and two months in prison but will be out by February.

Nicola, a mother of two, claims the probation officer got in touch to warn the family that Hull had made threats to further abuse her when he leaves prison.

She said: “When I heard, I went into a complete mental breakdown.

“It was devastating, I had just started to feel safe. I had some more friends, I was going out a lot more, and my kids were a lot more confident.

“Now, I’m right back where I was after his attack. The restraining order against him means he can’t come onto my road, or near the children’s school or where they go for their clubs.

The bruises Hull inflicted on Nicola's arm, which she used to protect her face.

“But it doesn’t stop him coming back to Southminster, to be right down the road from me and my children.”

Nicola said Hull began a downward spiral from January 2015, where he would disappear for two to three weeks at a time, before staggering back to the family home claiming he’d “been on a bender” but wanted to change. When his behaviour towards her and their children became worse, Nicola left Hull.

He still saw his children under the supervision of Nicola’s mother, where he would allegedly bombard them with questions about their mother.

Nicola said: “I think he was so jealous of my relationship with them. They became so scared of him, and just didn’t want to see him.”

Things came to a head on December 27, 2016, when Hull assaulted Nicola at her Southminster home, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.

Nicola now fears for her and her children’s safety, and believes Hull will not listen to his restraining order once released.

She added: “I remember waking up, barely able to move, thinking what he had just done, before being taken to hospital.

“There is no justice in this. He has made threats while in prison, but he’s going to be back on our streets, I can’t bear to think what he could possibly do.

“We haven’t been told where he will be living, nor what he’ll be doing.

Nicola’s father, Daniel Moore, added: “Nicola has undergone six operations because of the attack.

“When she was first taken to the hospital they said it was the worst case of domestic violence they had seen.”

Hull will be released on licence.

Shaun Hull was sentenced in May last year after admitting the abuse.

Hull's abusive crimes and conviction

Shaun Hull was sentenced on May 25 after admitting one count of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of assault by beating.

At 10pm on December 27, 2016, Hull arrived intoxicated at a bar where his then wife Nicola worked.

He was asked to leave, and when Nicola tried to calm him down, he pushed her over in the car park.

Later, at around 3.50am, Nicola returned home to Kings Road, Southminster, where Hull attacked her by pushing her to the floor once again and kicking her numerous times in the stomach before she passed out.

Hull was sentence to two years and two months in jail, and handed a restraining order. Hull is set to be released from prison on February 12 due to good behaviour.

Hull, then 32, of Colchester Road, Heybridge, will remain on licence for the rest of his sentence and if he commits any more crimes, or breaches the restraining order, he can be sent straight back to prison.
