YOUNGSTERS helped collect hampers full of Christmas treats for people who are in need.

Parents of children at Childsplay Day Nursery on Clarendon Way, and neighbours Adventureland joined forces with nine-year-old Home Farm Primary School pupil Mya Farress to donate festive favourites to be given to Colchester Foodbank.

As well as parents helping to fill ten hampers, donations were also taken from local businesses including Bookers.

Nursery manager Sarah Trusson said: "The idea is they are for children and filled with treats so they can have a good Christmas.

"It was about recognising some children might not be getting a lot over Christmas, where as a number of children from the nursery will be receiving lots of things.

"Hopefully they will realise there are people who are a little bit less fortunate than they are.

"The foodbank were really grateful."
