A special school in Clacton could cater for ages up to 25 when it becomes a pilot project for the county.
The scheme is set to see hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of facilities at Shorefields School.
The idea was unveiled three years ago shortly before the Holland Road school, formerly known as Windsor School, opened under its current guise.
But the finer details, estimated costs, drawings and site layout have not been released yet.
They could be made public next month when Essex County Council is set to rubberstamp the proposals.
