A primary care provider has been selected to offer out-of-hours services in north Essex.

From October 1, Harmoni was chosen to provide the service on behalf of North East Essex Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Covering an area which includes Harwich, Tiptree, Colchester and Clacton, it will look after 315,000 patients and will provide the most appropriate care for the patients.

It is hoped this will reduce unnecessary emergency admissions to hospital.

As part of a three-year contract, Harmoni will also provide trained in-house doctors to work at Clacton Hospital and the Fryatt Hospital in Harwich.
