A gang of bag snatchers targeted a woman in St John's Road, Clacton.
Four men approached her from behind on Sunday at 8.50pm, grabbed her handbag and ran off towards The Range in Valley Road.
The victim was shaken but uninjured. The bag contained £60.
Police searched the area but could not find the attackers, thought to be aged 16 or 17.
